So, What’d Ya Get?

Bow Tie Car GiftSo Christmas 2007 is over (whew!), and the current question is: What did you get for the holidays?

Me? I got a bunch of non car related stuff, but more importantly, it looks like my folks (still going strong in their late 80s) re-upped my Automobile Quarterly subscription.

Ah, Automobile Quarterly … and it’s not all brass radiators and wheel spats, on occasion they do more modern stuff. My father recently gave me all of his car books (ironically, a lot of them I had given to him over the years as presents). Included in that lode was a complete set of AQs. The downside to this is now I HAVE TO keep the AQ subscription going, or there will be a gap (and we can’t have that.) And since an AQ subscription is ~$80/year, that’s not exactly cheap. But still, they are a very good resource to have on hand.

But now that I have that problem taken care of for another year, what I really need are filing cabinets. See, years ago my dad gave me ALL of his back issues of Road & Track. Yes, I kept up the subscription, but from 1957 to the present, I got a filing problem. You combine the R & Ts with the Car and Drivers that I have, along with a couple of decades worth of Autoweek and Sportscar International and I figure five or six more filing cabinets, and I’d be all set … oh, and mylar bags and acid free backing boards … how the hell did I end up being a librarian? OK, out to the garage to go chase down that oil leak, I bet it’s the front cam seal.

Now, if I could just get dad to hand over that Sunbeam Tiger of his …

Well i didn’t get it but my friend got a body kit for a car he is fixing up. I don’t know the exact model but i will find out.
