Europe Considering a Ban on Performance Cars

No Lamborghini For YouNo more Ferraris…no more Lamborghinis. No more Pagani Zondas, Audi R8s, or Porsche Carrera GTs. Could you imagine such a horrible world? It might be a reality if the European Union gets their way. As if putting a speed limit on the Autobahn wasn’t ridiculous enough, these politicians are saying that selling “boys’ toys” that exceed the 130km/h speed limit is “political and environmental lunacy. People cannot drive at these speeds legally. It is just boys’ toys.”

They want to ban any vehicle that can travel over 25% of the usual EU speed limit of 130km/h (about 81 mph.) In other words, they want to ban any sports car that can go over about 100mph. Why? To reduce carbon-dioxide emissions. Ridiculous! I guarantee you that no German or Italian in their right mind will allow this (although Germany is the only country not affected by the law.) Thankfully, there are a lot of Germans voting on the law.

They? What do you mean, ‘they’?

As far as I recall when I read this news item a few weeks ago, it was ONE member of the EU parliament who was saying he MIGHT propose something like this.

This is like Dennis Kucinich saying he’s going to open a Department of Peace to work along side the Defense Department.

TB: You’re right, it was British Democrat Chris Davies who initially proposed this. I was speaking in a whole, as it’s the EU who will be voting on the matter. If one member of the American Government says something that may affect the whole world, generally people regard it as the “American Government” who proposed the idea, not the one member.

Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant. Are they out of their mind? The ocean creates more CO2 than everyone, and Water vapor is the the most effective greenhouse gas. So therefore, using their logic, Hydrogen cars would release more “Greenhouse Gases” than a Ferrari.
