Red Stripes cost $1650 on the Shelby GT500

Ford is getting ready to release a (sort of) special edition package for the Shelby GT500. It’s called the Red Stripe Appearance Package, costs $1650, features red stripes, and…well, that’s it. $1650 for nothing more than red stripes? Hmm…

Ridiculous price aside, the choice might actually be worth it, since this will be the rarest color combination available for the GT500. You can get the stripes on either a black or white car, and I must say, the red stripes on black looks really good.

In all fairness, the package does also include a red/black interior combo, premium carpeting and floor mats with a red/silver Cobra logo, and a car cover. Still not worth $1650, in my opinion.

You gotta remember that with the strip you are also paying to have a rare color, and you know only so many will be made so it will keep ist value better then the others. That it is a Special Edition, that alone gets people excited. Not to many people think about praformance when someone is waving a special edition car in your face. Although it would be nice to buff up the specs a little, but maybe that red strips ad +10 horse.
