The front fenders, the lack of a 20B engine ( or any new 3 or 4 rotor engine in their cars ) tells me Mazda has become a rogue company, that moves ahead w/ total disregard to its fans feedback. That is suicide and will cost Mazda its corp life. This 13B deal is already almost 40 years old ( early 70s...we are 3 years away from 40 ) Meanwhile the piston engine has been developing at incredible pase.

The problem is that Mazda is not and does not want to listen to its fans. I can get a 20B and install it in any vehicle I would want to, but what I am talking about is Mazda's attitute towards its loyal followers. Mazda has the power to make a gnarly engine. The 370Z is a 3.7 liter car. The Renesis is a 1.3 liter engine, come on! Mazda could build a larger motor. If you give a rotor 700 liter, you could have a 4 rotor engine and still be under 3 liters. A 4 rotor engine would have no competition. Only exotics need try. I am tired of Mazda chickening out, and humiliating me and other fans by refusing to use a 20B. I am not even talking about a 4 rotor. If gas consumption is such a problem, why not making it hydrogen? Mazda already used the 20B in the Mazda Cosmo back in the early 90s, why not now?

Josh.

I can get a 20B and install it in any vehicle I would want to, but what I am talking about is Mazda's attitute towards its loyal followers. I love rotaries, I have an 07 RX8, a 95 RX7, and owned several other rotaries in the past, but I am getting tired of this chickening of Mazda, that has an awesome 3 rotor engine that kicks ass, but refuses to use it, humilliating the rotaries with this nice, nimble but not serious nor torquey Renesis crap. If the RX7 is not a 3 rotor powerhouse, I think I will be done with rotaries, I will still keep my older ones, but I am not going to buy any new rotaires eny more. I am tired of being humiliated by silly wannaby cars like the evos, 370Zs and the Subies. A 3 rotor 20B would kick these cars off the road. And I heard the complain about gas mileage on a 3 rotor, well, I would get one, it would not be my daily driver, but definitely my steriod ride. 3 rotor or else Mazda loses another loyal fan, that has been waiting since 1995 for a next powerhouse!

I hope Mazda ups the engine torque. I think the rx7s heritage leaves high expectations that will be hard to fullfil - especially with a body in those pics above. Making a generic bland & boxy car that looks likes a dishwasher with peugeot headlights is not gonna set the rx7 apart from its competitors. If they are gonna bite their exterior design at least copy from a unique car like the audi r8 or something that pushes the limits on how headlights etc are placed. Especially when the pop-up system is illegal and outdated therefore wont be used again. No point following current trends and making the car look like a stubby block like r35 & 350z etc, lets see how those designs will look in years to come. Mazda rx7 symbolises persistence and design innovation in my opinion and those concepts make me lose confidence in mazdas direction.

I know these are just concepts but lets hope thats all they ever are. If you're really a true rotary fan, don't complain about the RX8 just because of its disgusting lack of torque, stock. If you put a turbo or a blower under the hood, you will soon see exactly why the rx8 is a car to be reckoned with. combined with its already nice suspension, the torque given to you from your turbo will DEFINITELY make you look at your car in a new light, even with those fender flares. shit, you might even get used to them. good luck

actually, POCKETROCKET, the gtr (NOT VSPEC) pulled a 7:26, which is, if you ask me, faster than a 7:40 (GT3). and Jaime, don't just sit around and wait for mazda to make you a 3 rotor. if you really want one, get an rx7 (easiest is 2nd gen) and put one in. Yet, I want a 3 rotor Mazda, or else I am afraid, Mazda will push me and other rotary fans to other brands because our beloved Rotaries need more power. I am tired of being humilliated by piston engines that have more power than the 13B, and it is time Mazda unleashes a 3 rotor engine, even a 4 rotor. The technology is there, and your customers are slowly walking away Mazda, not because of lack of love for the rotary, but because you are taking far tooooo long for a real rotary to make appearance. My only complaint about the RX8, besides the power issue, is the front fenders. That is the single issue that has kept many people away from the RX8, and it seems Mazda is going to commit suicide by stubornly forcing the ugliest feature our beloved RX8 has in the next RX7. Please do not!

I have an RX8, and I like it very much, specially the suspension performance. It DEFINITELY cannot compare in LOOKS, especially not with its huge, ugly fenders and bland tail lights. As far as performance, no, unfortunately it doesnt stand a chance there either due to its inability to make power. If it was turbocharged, it might be a little different, but its really nothing special. I own an FD, and I love pulling up to rx8s and walking all over them, because to be honest, I hate them and have no idea as to what Mazda was thinking when they gave birth to those suicide door abominations. Mazda is a great company, and the only Japanese company left that imports most of its cars from Japan, but they really messed up making that thing and the concepts for the new rx7 arent pretty. and for whoever keeps talking about GTRs, have you guys forgotten that the new skylines that will be released are all AUTOMATIC?????? For God sakes they are not manual, no clutch, automatic launch control, let go of the brake pedal and the car will almost drive itself! No more hard downshifting! how else do you think its possible for it to beat the new ZR1? Also, the rotary engine is not economical and was never designed to be, even the hydrogen powered ones aren't really that great. And we dont have 5 rotors because theres no way you could put enough gas in one to get from the gas station back home. That thing would tear up the road all the time, what a beast. Scoots 4 rotor is nothing short of breath taking, but the idea of a 5 rotor scares me even more. Theres not really anything I can say to you, Radderz, if you honestly think a mustang or a charger can run with an rx7 other than are you sure you know how to drive?

Guys, the rx8 cannot compare with an fd. Hopefully mazda will relrease a mazdaspeed-8 with either a supercharger or turbo, leave you RX-7s in the dust, with a way higher redline (rotarys make power well beyond 9K redline with forced induction and they are safe to operate to over 14,400RPM). And why cant Mazda release a 3.0L 5 or 6 rotary? RX-6 ;)

With all due respect to everyone, RX-8 versus turboed RX-7 is not a fair comparison.
