I love the new face lift, I think it makes the car a bit more classy looking and will allow me to drive it for a few years without it looking dated. To be honest the chassis although the same seems stiffer and the steering is a bit more tighter then both the 97 and 03 versions. The new much anticipated rear drive Tiburon with plenty of power is set to come out in late 09 I believe. I'll probably get that version in it's 2012 model year. Now I have never heard about this, but one thing I know for sure is that Hyundai doesn't tell anybody anything, esepecially in the US. There are VP's that don't know anything before the public. My point is that it's highly unlikely that you have some kind of inside connection unless you're asian. The other thing, please correct those HP values. Its 138 and 172.
