Update: Barabus TKR
The Barabus TKR that I previously reported on has been unveiled, and the numbers are even better than expected. The body and chassis of the TKR are made of carbon fiber, which helps the twin-turbo 6.0L V8 (1005 hp,) propel the car from 0-60 mph in an amazing 1.67 seconds. Whoa. Not only that but the car can reach a top speed of 270 mph!

The TKR is designed to compete with the world’s fastest, quickest, best handling, most luxurious grand touring cars in the world.” Barabus will be producing 300-400 TKR’s over a three-year production period, and fetching one will cost you £360,000 ($454,176.)
Sadly, I expect this to go the way of the Vector Supercar. If this thing didn’t look like a cheap rip-off of the Saleen S7, I would be salivating. If you look at my other post about it, you can also see comparison shots between the TKR and the Lotus Elise and Pagani Zonda. You’ll be surprised at how similar they look.
Now let’s get real here. First, these numbers are most likely mathematical calculations used, and will not actually be the real numbers. Second, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani (I could go on,) could all make cars that have 1000 hp claims if they just want to say “my car has 1000 hp.” The real question (and the reason this isn’t already done,) is ‘How does it drive in the real world?’ It would be cool for Top Gear to test this car, it would be entertaining. But for real world driving where the roads aren’t all track, this thing probably sucks. Not to mention it’s most likely extremely unreliable and annoying to drive at low speeds. Don’t get me wrong here, I like the idea of huge numbers like that, but we have to be realistic. Look at how similar the TKR and the Saleen S7 are:

Just shameless copying, I also think that the shape of the windscreen and the air-intake on the roof are copied from the McLaren F1… (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jburns00/sets/764996/)
i think that the design of this car is based on the saleen s7 and to be honest a 6.0 liter v8 no matter how much turbos it has on it will never have 1005 hp but with a carbon fiber body i think the cars stats as wrote down may be real
You can get 1000hp easy out of twin-turbo 6 liter. The power isn't the problem with this car (well, wasn't the problem, the projects been dead since its debut). The problem was its extreme claims such as 270+ and 0-60 in less than 2 sec. None of the cars stats added up.
Yep, the barabus sounds like "the car" !!If the performance is so unique and that's the hardest and most money consuming part in building a supercar how comes the design is so "cheap". Undoubted resemblance with Saleen and Zonda—–WHY the *****? If the design does not look original It is most likely that the performance of the car sucks. Time will show what car is the barbus is and what is not. Desperate try in the design area hope not the same for the big numbers .
ok so it looks a bit like a saleen, its low and slippery, anyone come up with a decentreason why? if not consult your local aerodynamisist! as for the driving experience, its british itll handle sublimely (unlike those hunks of american iron that appear to be vexed by corners) as for the driving experience, itll probably be a bit bumpy, if you want a tourer go buy an SLR if you want speed accept the fact that there are compromises to be made. besides if this does wrest the flag from the fastest car in the world (ultima 720gtr – 0-100-0 9.47 secons – or 1/2 a second quicker than the second placed car the veyron) away from the ultima the boys from leicester will just up the power to 1000 and take it back
i think is very cool and top gear should test drive this beast
In my opinon the tkr is a cheat rip off of the F1 Lm mclaren and the saleen S7 but let us not forget the downright brillance that went into building this car 1005 horsepower and 270 mph plus in my eyes is nothing to joke about and knocking the Bugatti Veron of the tip of the fastest car in the world list is by over 20 mph is good enough for me but the creators really needed to look into a bran new design for the car. I mean look at the Bugatti its a monster!!!!!
If those numbers are true (1005 hp, 270 mph), I could almost care less that it rips off the others. Besides, it still manages to look good on its own, so for me, thats enough. If I can cruise in 1.7 seconds then why belittle it because of what's on the outside? Isn't it what's under the hood that counts?
@Chikezie: Of course what’s under the hood matters, but that’s not all that matters to most people. It’s different for everybody, but for me at least, the driving experience itself it equally important, and so is the car’s design, the interior, the sound of the engine, the ride quality, etc. If you *just* want to go fast, get the Barabus. Personally, I would take something that isn’t as fast but doesn’t make me disappointed every time I open the garage door. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so if the looks wouldn’t bother you, go for it.
yeah it does look alot like a saleen, zonda and a mclaren. But it does look cool. But i think it should be longer for more stability at 270 mph. If it does go that fast. That would be sweet. I would still take the bugatti over that any day.
i dont care what it resembles, if it is the fastest in the world, its a special car, and the extremely cheap price for a car with that speed capacity makes it a car definitely worth buying
Well, It looks good to me. If it can walk that talk put me down for one. For all you Veyron Fans Think… 1.6 or 500K hmmm i wonder… It would be a shame for me to pass you in your 10 intercooler Over done, Over priced christmas tree…
Dear @1!!@@$#
The TKR is sweet, yea they did kindda copy the McLaren F1 and the Saleen, but who gives a crap. 1000hp, 270mph 20mph faster than that million dollor Bugatti, but this car is under $600,000. O and all those people say crap about the TkR are ether gellious because they are not as good as them.
love !$@#^$%*
this thing imega quick but it shold have a v 10 with 5 supercharger
Screw u guys ur all punk ass little kids and the bugatti can suck the barbus tkr's gas all day long cause it will destroy the begautti you white ass wigga i got one from my rich senator dad and ill race u and own u
I just heard that one of those undeclared billionaires Viktor Shvetsky has purchased 7 of these babies for each color in a rainbow for a birthday bash earlier this month. Anyone knows what happened to those cars, cause I sure would love to get my hands on one (cheaply).
Yeap, I have heard about this "stunt" of his. The right spelling is VICTOR Shvetsky and not Viktor. Talk about a real rich ass showing off in front of his pseudo-friends. I hope he and all of his wealth rots in hell. Purchasing that many cars at once backlogs the firm for about a year or even more. Good for business but bad for the rest of the fans. Has anyone heard what he plans to do with the cars?
The rumor is that a blue one will be eventually presented to Victor's childhood friend, someone named Steve M. They went to elementary school together and remained friends. Since the cars won't be available for delivery for at least a year (they are all hand-made after all), in the meantime Vic will be sending Steve a 2008 BMW 335i Coupe, so that he can drive something semi-decent for a year. After all $50K is just pocket change for Vic. What a great friend!
the ultimate aero is faster
i guess it looks like a pagani in the back but no doubt the body is from a saleen
WOW! This car has eight cylinders less than the bugatti veyron but still can beat it in the 0-60 and also beat its top speed by 15mph!Amazing
There is one thing all of you are forgetting, the Bugatti Veyron weighs more than 4000lbs, this thing probably weighs a little close to 2 grand thanks to its all-carbon fiber body and chassis. If the Bugatti lightened the car by like 2000lbs, then the Veyron will have no equal!!!
I do not know who this Steve M. is but he must be one lucky SOB! Does anyone know how to get in touch with Victor Shvetsky so I can get one of his used cars as well? I tried googling him, but could not find his address anywhere. Russian name but looks like he is in U.S.
Another oil and land profiteer?
As long as I get my car, who cares!
Damn, damn, damn!
Why do car manufacturers have to copy like this?!
This car is a pathetic thing. To me, it looks like it's made out of plastic and cheap materials, and the only reason it can even make the claim of going so fast is because it's so damn light. Doesn't even seem like a real car.
As for it's performance numbers, like the article said, it all sounds nice on paper, but what about reality? I can just imagine shoddy build quality plus a horrible ride to equal a bad car. As for me, I think that the Veyron could kick it's sorry ass around the track any day.
Im sorry but I dont believe for a second that on the road it will achieve those figures. It will struggle for traction! Look at a drag car and look at what they have to do to keep grip on a perfect running surface!
Those numbers are not possible with how the car is in the pictures. The fastest street car ever has a 0-60 time of 1.9 seconds and thats with fat semi-slicks in the rear on a prepared surface, and 270 isn't acheivable with those wheels either. The car failed as soon as it was unvieled and its "British engine" was an American made banks twin turbo. The best part of this car was its engine and they didn't even give credit for that.
I actually went to the hospital charity auction where he auctioned one of those cars with all proceeds going to local community outreach program. I never understood why they had all those Swedish babes though! Hospital. Race cars. Babes in tight skirts. Community outreach? I don't think so!
And who is this Steve M. that Mr. Shvetsky is purportedly giving one of these beautiful babies to? Last I heard he had donated all of those cars to charity. Unless this "Steve M." is one of his charity cases, in which case someone introduce me to the guy!!!
If what they say is true, that Mr S is one rich crazy ass.Buying so many TRKs.What a waste. And what charity could possibly want his TRk,unless it's a racing charity.
