Aston Martin Hot Dog err…Rapide

Aston Martin Rapide

Behold the sexiest four-door car ever, despite it being really, really long in reference to it’s height. The Aston Martin Rapide, based off of the unbelievably attractive DB9, travels from 0 to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds. Still a bit slower than the DB9 (4.9 sec) even though they increased the engine output to 480 hp (30 more than the DB9) to compensate for the added weight.

I love those taillights. An editor at Auto Bild (who test drove the Rapide,) gets poetic on us:

“Amidst the well known circular instruments and the chromed control panel, the Start button awaits. Whoever presses it will experience the elemental power of the 6.0 liters V12 engine. The 20″ tyres grip the road like they were a zipper. The steering manages a rare synthesis of precision and feedback … the brakes bite like a Dobberman”

Euro Car Blog (thanks for the translation,) goes on to say:

The only big defect: “the steering circle is more like that of a channel ferry than that of a car”. The capabilities of this car and the richness of the interior will have prospective buyers in a forgiving frame of mind, though. Even about the lack of headroom for the rear seats and the price, expected to be about 160.000 €.

Really extremely attractive car. With a car like that you just know you’ll have jaws dropping on the ground when you drive by.

Agreed, Chuck. I would personally rather have the DB9 though, I think it’s sexier. Although I do love the taillightson the Rapide.
